NCAP to start testing vans
European car safety testing agency, Euro NCAP, is to start testing light commercial vehicles and car-derived vans from the middle of next year.
The organisation’s technicians are currently developing the protocol for the van test, working with industry experts and vehicle manufacturers. Their ratings will check for adult, child and pedestrian safety, and the impact of part-loaded or full vans compared to empty vans. Euro NCAP is also looking at assessing restraint systems, including bulkhead strength.
